Fall 2016: Sculpture
Planar Spectrum is a collaborative sculpture installed in Arbor Lofts in Southfield, Michigan. The goal of this sculpture was to disrupt the planes of reality by installing colorful frames throughout the space. The transparent films overlap with each other to create an interesting viewing experience, as well as beautiful shadows on the walls and floors. The frames were hung so that the participant was subtly encouraged to walk throughout the sculpture. Some frames jutted out into the path or hung low so participants had to become conscious of their own presence as they moved throughout. Planar Spectrum was an experiment in creating a sculpture that, with no prompts or intervention, encouraged the viewer to see it from all perspectives.
